Chapter 34: A Massive Harvest
“Your Highness, are you alright?”
Aliris looked at Kana, noticing his emotions were clearly a bit off, and asked with concern.
Kana shook his head and said, “I’m fine. The feeling of finding treasure is just a bit... exhilarating.”
Hearing this, Aliris couldn't help but break into a smile, nodding with a hint of excitement herself. She was clearly much happier than she let on.
“I’ll go out and get some bags.”
“No rush. There’s another room next door; let’s go take a look.”
Compared to this room, Kana was equally curious about who the master of the other tomb chamber was.
Kana tucked the Stone of Creation into his inner breast pocket and moved to the other side. Since he was unfamiliar with this particular room, he observed carefully for a long while to ensure there were no traps before the two of them stepped inside.
The layout here was almost identical to the previous room—triangular in shape. There was a central statue, and in front of it sat a sculpture of a chalice. The appearance of this sculpture was extremely similar to the one next door; the only difference was likely that he wasn't bald.
The masterpiece placed beneath the circular pedestal was a spherical object about the size of a human head. However, the contents stored within the chalice were not as straightforward as the priest's items next door; instead, it was a cluttered pile of various things. There were cloth bundles, cylindrical crystals, unrecognizable metal materials, and even books.
Curiously, Kana looked down at the inscriptions beneath the pedestal.
“Doll Master—Teanri... Doll Master? A Doll Master!”
Kana’s voice suddenly jumped several octaves, his excitement becoming visible to the naked eye.
“Is he... very famous?” Aliris asked, unable to help herself seeing how agitated he was. To be honest, she had never heard the name before. However, she never expected much from her own scholarly knowledge.
“Of course! This is a Doll Master, which represents a hidden class...”
Kana shut his mouth.
After steadying his emotions, the reason for his excitement was that, in the game, the last profession he had played was the Doll Master. It was a hidden class that required completing a series of questlines hidden within the game's rich lore and details.
As a lore-driven player, Kana had likely found the clues toward the end of Version 3.0 and followed the trail of hidden quests all the way through. He finally completed the task in the middle of Version 4.0 and obtained the hidden class. That profession had not disappointed him, surpassing every other class he had ever played. Although it was his main profession, he had actually only used the Doll Master for three years.
It was undeniable that the [Doll Master] class was incredibly powerful.
The reason Kana was so excited was that he was intimately familiar with all the character stories and hidden locations related to this entire questline. In the game, it had merely been a process of following the plot to obtain items and eventually specialize in the class. But now that he had transmigrated and this had become reality, completing this series of tasks would guarantee that he could become a top-tier existence in this profession.
Recovering his composure, Kana answered again, “This is a branch of ancient alchemy.”
After explaining, Kana looked back at the pedestal. From the information provided, he learned that this man named Teanri was known as the Doll Master, and his masterpiece was the metal sphere below. It was an ancient, basic foundation doll.
Kana picked up the sphere, wiped away the dust, and recognized it instantly.
[Spherical Doll—Universal]
Kana now knew exactly who Teanri was. He was the progenitor of the [Doll Master] class.
The progenitor wasn't necessarily the strongest of the class, but rather the one who laid its foundation. According to certain records in the game, Kana knew that the origin and naming of the [Doll Master] class came from its founder. The founder had created the first programmable and modifiable universal foundation doll, allowing the profession to flourish. Unfortunately, this pioneer had passed away early due to an experimental accident.
The records on the pedestal also noted this. Furthermore, the brother in the adjacent tomb had also died in that incident, while Teanri, the founder of the Doll Master class, had been on the brink of death. Knowing he could not survive, he had buried the two brothers together.
Kana hurriedly picked up the books from the chalice and flipped through them casually. These books were clearly made of special materials; even now, covered in dust, they remained extremely sturdy, and the handwriting on them was exceptionally clear.
As expected, they were his experimental manuals.
Kana began to seriously inventory the items.
Some alchemical materials. Experimental manuals. Memory crystals. A personal spatial waist pouch.
Perfect. A perfectly curated set of items.
With these things, Kana could quickly specialize and become a [Doll Master]. He would start as the weakest, most basic [Doll Master]. After all, this was the ancient Alchemical Empire; this was the most primitive state of the profession. Alchemy, like everything else, evolved with the passage of time. Modern Doll Masters were far more advanced, but since he lacked the current conditions, making do with what he had was fine.
He checked the spatial waist pouch; it was still in its brand-new, sealed state. Seeing this, Kana felt much more relieved, because such spatial pouches would gradually become unstable over time until they turned into ordinary pouches. The fact that it was still sealed proved it had been preserved perfectly.
He opened the seal and checked; it had a capacity of exactly one cubic meter. Enough.
He stuffed the sphere and all the materials into the spatial waist pouch.
“It... it went in!” Aliris exclaimed beside him. It was her first time seeing spatial equipment; she had never even heard of such a thing.
“This is spatial equipment. Don't let its small size fool you; it can hold quite a lot.”
Hearing Kana's explanation, Aliris nodded, her eyes full of curiosity as she watched closely.
“Not now. I'll lend it to you to play with when we get back tonight.”
“No, there's no need, Your Highness. I was just curious.” Aliris's face flushed slightly; she felt her behavior was a bit undignified.
Kana looked at her. “You really don't want to try it? It's very interesting.”
“If... if it is Your Highness's command.”
“Haha, alright. I command you to learn all about this thing.”
“Yes!”
After a brief moment of lighthearted banter, the two moved to the other side. Kana also packed the pile of coins and gems into the spatial waist pouch. He had to admit there was quite a lot; the items from the two chalices had almost filled the pouch.
“Let's go. We're heading out.”
With that, the two exited. They re-examined the stone door, removed the stone slabs, and tossed them into the waist pouch as well.
As the great door slowly closed, the entire cave plunged back into total darkness.
The two jumped into the pond. The icy river water soaked them completely, washing away the excitement of their treasure hunt. Aliris led the way, and they quickly made their way back along the path.
Seeing them return, Black, who was waiting on the shore, reached out to pull Kana from the water.
