Rebirth in the Apocalypse: Starting with a 30 Million Jackpot

Chapter 13: There's way too much supplies!

Seeing that the time was right, Li Yu prepared to step forward and respond.

In truth, to put everyone's minds at ease and prevent them from spiraling into wild speculation, the food problem had to be solved first; otherwise, any other discussion was nonsense.

One thing that comforted Li Yu was that even though the food issue had just been exposed, everyone still appeared to be very united.

Li Yu felt gratified.

Saving these relatives hadn't been in vain!

He stood up, walked to the center, and said, "Follow me."

Following him with expressions of confusion, the group saw a hidden area behind the villa.

A rolling shutter door was pulled open, revealing a deep underground passage.

When the warehouse doors were opened, everyone was stunned by the sight of the dense, massive supplies.

This... this is freaking too much!

Just the salt at the very front probably weighed dozens of tons.

The various supplies were clearly categorized and piled as high as mountains!

A sense of security instantly washed over everyone. Several of his younger brothers looked at Li Yu with eyes full of admiration.

Everything was understood without words.

Lai Dongsheng and his family were also there. Since he had chosen to let them into the base, it was because he trusted them enough.

Rather than having the warehouse discovered by accident later, it was better to show it off openly now.

Li Yu kept one warehouse key for himself, and to prevent loss, he gave another to his mother, Liu Fanghua, for safekeeping.

No one had any objections; after all, these supplies were bought by Li Yu, so it was perfectly reasonable for Liu Fanghua to manage them.

Once everyone had gone up, Li Yu specifically asked his father and his younger brother, Li Hang, to stay behind.

The two looked puzzled, wondering what Li Yu had to instruct them about.

The incandescent lights of the underground passage shone on Li Yu's face.

Traces of zombie blood still lingered on his face, looking somewhat eerie under the light.

Looking at Li Yu, Li Hongyuan felt a surge of complex emotions.

He found himself understanding his son less and less.

Ever since the "M" event returned, Li Yu's series of operations, his decisive manner of acting, and his way of handling problems all demonstrated a maturity and shrewdness that left his father bewildered. There were things he still couldn't quite wrap his head around.

But there was no need to dwell on it; after all, this was his own son, his flesh and blood.

Li Yu set down his backpack—a bag he hadn't put down since the beginning.

From the backpack, Li Yu pulled out three pistols and eight magazines.

Including the rounds already in the guns, there were fewer than 100 bullets in total.

Seeing this, Li Hongyuan's jaw dropped. He pointed at the pistols and asked, "Where... where did these guns come from?" However, he quickly realized: it was the apocalypse; where the guns came from didn't matter.

Moreover, having guns would allow them to better protect themselves.

Without looking up, Li Yu said, "Xiao Hang, tell Dad about it."

After Li Hang finished his description, Li Hongyuan sighed. "Sigh, I never thought the city would turn into this..."

"It's not just the city; the whole world is like this now!" Li Yu said.

"Here!" Li Yu handed two of the guns to his father and brother, ensuring the safeties were on.

"It's the end of the world now. Take these for self-defense. I'll teach you how to use them in a moment," Li Yu said.

The two took the guns; it was their first time handling firearms. However, being a youth at heart, as soon as Li Hang got his hands on a gun, he began to study and fiddle with it with great interest.

"Careful!" Li Yu warned Li Hang not to mess with the safety and gave them a brief explanation of how to use them.

He then gave each of them a magazine.

After handing the guns to them, Li Yu led his father to a small door at the edge of the warehouse.

The door was locked, but once opened, it revealed various cold weapons such as crossbows and swords.

His father stared at them somewhat numbly; he hadn't expected Li Yu to have made so many preparations.

But after everything that had happened today, he had already been surprised too many times.

So, while the cold weapons were strange, he accepted them.

Li Yu handed a spare key to his father for safekeeping. In the future, his father would be responsible for the use of these weapons.

In Li Yu's plan, his mother would manage the supplies and his father would oversee the weapons; this way, his own control over the base would remain stable.

After finishing these instructions, the three returned to the villa living room.

Since everyone was still there, Li Yu began to lay out a plan.

There were currently over twenty people in the base, large and small; including Lai Dongsheng's family, there were nearly thirty people in total.

"Zombies are everywhere now. Although we have high walls, we must remain vigilant at all times. Dad, Second Uncle, Fourth Uncle, Uncle Lai, Uncle-in-law, Xiao Hang—the seven of us will take turns guarding the watchtower at the gate. Dad, go turn on the high-voltage electric fence in a moment. Also..."

Li Yu paused and looked at his cousins, saying, "It's the apocalypse! Even the youngest among you are sixteen. You must take on responsibility! Haoyu, you set up a schedule to take the younger ones to watch the surveillance room. Report any unusual activity immediately!"

Li Haoyu, the eldest son of the Second Uncle, nodded. Like Li Hang, he had followed Li Yu around since he was a snotty-nosed kid and had been beaten by Li Yu more than a few times.

But the more he was beaten, the deeper their bond became!

Having finished speaking, Li Yu took out the walkie-talkies he had prepared.

He then added, "Mom, Aunt, Auntie, Aunt, Auntie Xiumei—you all take the children in the family and handle the household matters. If there are any problems, ask Grandpa and the others."

He noticed Li Yuan staring at him expectantly, but Li Yu ignored her.

After the general instructions were given, no one had any objections.

It was fair and just, especially since the base had been built by Xiao Yu himself.

Everyone dispersed to attend to their assigned tasks.

Li Yu stood at the villa entrance in a daze, looking at the sky outside, which was still pitch black.

From the day before yesterday until today, it had been nearly 48 hours of darkness.

Just then, he suddenly felt someone approaching from behind. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw it was his aunt.

He didn't mind.

His aunt was ten years older than him and had been his nemesis since childhood.

With her "tigress" personality, she had always been boisterous, only tempering it somewhat after getting married.

Seeing Li Yu's furrowed brow, his aunt felt a pang of heartache for him.

"Yu kid, you've matured a lot. You can carry the weight now. But don't put too much pressure on yourself," she said with a teasing smile that carried genuine concern.

"Haha, don't worry," Li Yu said with a slight smile.

"Don't let the pressure get to you. Keep your heart light," she added. Even though she knew he had grown up, she still cared for him just as she always had.

...

The two chatted for a while about the past, and the atmosphere became much more relaxed.

Seeing his worried expression, she wanted to use this method to help him relax...

They had an excellent relationship, chatting idly while sitting on the nearby steps.

Suddenly, it went quiet, as if time had frozen for a few seconds.

His aunt said slowly, "Xiao Yu, we're lucky to have you."

Li Yu patted his aunt's head and laughed, "Don't worry, Young Master Yu will make sure you live the good life."

"You little brat, are you looking for a beating?" His aunt feigned a strike, but Li Yu skillfully dodged.

After his aunt left, Li Yu looked into the distance, where the silhouettes of two mountains could be faintly seen.

The night remained.

According to his memories from his previous life, the apocalypse was supposed to arrive on the 25th. But looking at the current situation, it seemed to have broken out much earlier; he only vaguely remembered that the government didn't notify the public until the 25th.

November 25th—that super rainstorm had killed many people.
